Beer in Focus:
John Boston Brewery
It all started when a visionary named
John Boston set sail for Australia in 1794 as a free settler
and accompanied by his wife and three children. By September
1796, after building his windmill on his grant of land, John
Boston brewed his first beer – and Australia's first beer.
Boston's Mill Pale Ale
Brewed using a combination of traditional, pale and crystal
malts, the latter imparting some caramel flavours and a lingering
malt sweetness. A traditional ale yeast strain is added, producing
fruity esters, whilst three distinct hop gifts impart soft
bitterness as well as a dominant floral hop character.
Pale Ales is a great match with steaks, rich duck and
pasta dishes. |
